Many people come into AshBlue and comment on the large picture on the back wall (and also the main picture for this blog). We love this picture, and here’s why.
The picture features two boys sitting together on a horse. Many people do not know that the boy on the back is actually one of our owners, Zulu Scott-Barnes. Zulu was raised in South Africa and was just as much of a free spirit as he is now. Our other owner, Susannah Scott-Barnes (his wife) had this picture blown up and assembled on three panels for the grand opening of the new store. She did this in secret, for fear of him finding out and not wanting the picture displayed. But when Susannah finally revealed her surprise, he adored it and was completely thrilled at her wise decision!

Love it! Zulu taught me how to play polo decades ago (hardly seems possible) at the Mashomack polo fields… daughter of Lois and Theo Mander, remember? Then I went on to play at UVA. My sons are now old enough to start riding too, so it will be a terrific summer here in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Hope you are all well!

Hey Kristina wonderful to hear from you! I’m here in Nashville – have twins that are a year old! Josephine and Willow. Saw your mother on the train about 6 years ago. Are you going to be in Millbrook anytime? Make sure your boys have their helmets!
